Layer in perennial flowers that spring to life each season. Sassy and sweet Boulevard® Volunteer™ Clematis (Clematis ‘Evipo080’) adds a lively look to your landscape…no matter the size.
This exquisite choice is one of the Boulevard series of modern Raymond Evison Clematis cultivars. They are known as Compact Patio Clematis, and for good reason.
Volunteer Clematis delivers star-shaped, geometric, iced pink flowers. Each lavender-pink sepal is accented with darker bands of color.
Charming Volunteer adds a dynamic interplay between light and dark. The sepals are perfectly pointed and surround a fluffy pom-pom of pale yellow stamens for added visual interest.
Relish the abundant flowers from early summer through fall. Use one or more in large outdoor containers as a fun “Thriller” or along the edge to “Spill” and drape your balcony with color.
Give them as a gift plant to say thanks to someone who helps. ‘Volunteer’ is a very special modern Clematis that was dedicated to our everyday heroes who make the world go round.
With just enough spunk to remind you not to take life too seriously; Volunteer is a giving, free-flowering plant that keeps you happy. Butterflies and beneficial pollinators love the nectar-rich flowers, too.
They can also be grown in the ground. Why not leverage their climbing superpower as a pretty, flowering screen?
Train Volunteer to cover a trellis. First, prepare the structure by covering it with a mesh netting or landscape wire, as Clematis winds leaf stems around narrow supports that are less than a quarter of an inch wide.
They might look delicate, but these are very hardy plants in the right planting site and care. They’ll withstand frigid cold and content with high heat and humidity.
Weave their unique, two-toned coloration into your garden story. You’ll appreciate their helping hand to keep your landscape beautiful all season long.

How to Use Boulevard® Volunteer™ Clematis in the Landscape
On a tiny lot, or rented balcony…plant in outdoor containers. They will become a thrilling accent growing up along an obelisk or tower placed in the center of the pot.
Use a trellis instead, and raise the planter up to provide an effective privacy screen. Place a series of lightweight pots where you need to block unwanted views.
Be sure to tie your trellis down to secure it from the wind. Some people have even used a DIY approach to create an integrated planter box and trellis in one!
Let your imagination come out to make the most of these fanciful blossoms! They’ll mix with just about any color and style, from the cheerful warm tones of boho chic to a refined palette of neutrals.
In a yard, place them as groundcovers to soften the lines of your garden path. Let them fill in underneath “leggy” mature shrubs for a big boost of color.
Take advantage of their climbing capabilities…in reverse! Let them grow downward for an easy and impactful garden feature.
Plant them two feet apart at the top of a retaining wall for flowers closer to eye-height! Or…let them grow over the edge of a raised garden bed to visually ground the planting.
You’ll love watching the butterflies visit each bloom! Include Volunteer Clematis in a Pollinator Garden as a beautiful focal point.
Even if you aren’t handy at all, you can place a tomato cage over the top in early spring. By fall, it will have grown into a lavish ball of blooms!
Repeat them along the length of your garden border. These long-lived vines add an instant sense of style that feels very fresh and natural.
#ProPlantTips for Care
Volunteer Clematis flowers best with their leaves in full sun and their roots in partial shade. If you live in Zone 9, plant where they get morning sun and afternoon shade.
Well-drained soil is another important requirement. Clematis love moist soil, but they can’t tolerate poorly drained soil that traps standing water for hours and hours.
Give the tiny feeder roots life-long symbiotic support with a bag of Nature Hills Root Booster. The ingredients create a beneficial colony which helps the plant access micronutrients from the soil.
Apply a moderate amount of supplemental water on a regular basis. Mulch over the roots to keep the soil cool, but pull mulch away from the crown.
In early spring, trim the dead growth down to live budding stems six inches above the ground. Prune at a 45-degree angle above that healthy new growth.
Let Boulevard Volunteer Clematis make a difference with its marvelous coloration, and easy-care nature. Order today and we’ll ship at the right time to plant in your area!
