#ProPlantTips for Care
Daylillies, especially Premium Daylilies, just about take care of themselves. You might think that’s an exaggeration but it’s not!
Almost nothing bothers Orange Smoothie! Not the cold, winter salt, juglone, or even slopes will slow this show-pony perennial down.
When planting, try to find a spot in full sun to let it soak in the rays all day long. Well drained soils are also a plus but that’s just about it. This daylily will thrive in places many other perennials would struggle.
If you’d like, consider adding a layer of mulch around the base. This helps conserve water and keeps the roots cool. As an added bonus, mulch usually helps keep the weeds down and the overall aesthetic of the garden up.
Deadheading isn’t necessary as this perennial will do just fine on its own. Once that first round of flowers are done, you can really clean up the look of your planting by removing those flowering stems that are done blooming and at the same time encourage the new flowering stems to develop sooner.
But if you’d like to give a quick cut then wait until late autumn, after it’s done blooming for the year and frost killed off your foliage, grab your shears, and give it a trim.
Even those with self-proclaimed brown thumbs can have a thriving garden with Orange Smoothie Daylily. Order yours today from our expert growers at Nature Hills Nursery!
